2018 will be Butler Amusements 48th year of operation. The company is still committed to its original company motto “The Cleanest Show in the West.” Throughout the company’s existence from when it was founded in 1970 by George “Bud” Butler, his wife Evelyn, and his son Earl “Butch”, it has continued to provide the newest and most exciting rides and attractions available in the carnival industry. Customer safety and satisfaction have always been the primary factors considered when acquiring new rides and attractions. This has helped us provide the safest possible fun for Butler customers and be able to feature some new attractions each year.The presentation of the carnival always includes innumerable features which give a bright colorful appearance while always stressing a safe and customer-friendly environment.

Butler Amusements is a family- owned and operated company, building its carnival over many years into one of the largest in the United States was accomplished through the hard, dedicated work of the family and its employees. The fourth generation of Butlers is now actively involved in operation of the company.

New This Year

Butler Amusements is introducing an exciting new way to enjoy the carnival at the 2018 Sonoma County Fair. Customers have the option of purchasing Smart Cards at our ticket boxes or at our new self-serve kiosks.

  1. Choose the ticket package you want, pay using cash, credit or debit, receive a smart card with all of your tickets.
  2. Keep your receipt in a safe place, and use the smart card to ride rides AND play games.
  3. You can refill your smart card at any ticket box or self-serve kiosk. You can also track where you used your tickets and check your balance.

Unlimited ride wristbands still work as they always have: Purchase at a Carnival Ticket Box (keep your receipt in a safe place) and ride all the ride you want that day.

starting Saturday, April 28 at 9:00 am

Tickets will be sold online starting Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 noon.

Pre-Fair Box Office Hours:

  • Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm.
  • Open Saturdays 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, starting July 7

Please note: There are handling fees for all tickets sold on-line. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, debit cards and cash. Sorry, we cannot accept personal checks.

General Rules

  • No casts, pregnant persons, nor intoxicated individuals allowed on rides.
  • Each ride has posted height limit requirements. For individual riders on some rides, riders who might not meet height requirements may be able to ride with another rider. The requirements are posted at the entrance of each ride and on our Carnival ticket boxes.
  • Children who measure under 36" in height cannot ride any carnival rides and children who measure 36-48 inches tall can only ride a few select rides.
  • All riders must have either a ride wristband (if available) or carnival tickets Rides require 3 or more tickets each.
  • Infants are not allowed to ride carnival rides.
  • Be aware that there are height requirements on each ride, and in some cases other restrictions; Specifically the seat molds and over the shoulder harnesses dictate who the ride can comfortably accommodate.

Please check safety rules before purchasing tickets—no refunds are given.
