Cattle Drive
during the
Diamond Jubilee Cattle Drive!
This is your chance to witness history in the making as our experienced cowboys drive a herd of Texas Longhorns and Mexican steers through the streets of Santa Rosa.
On Farmer’s Day, Sunday, August 7, the festivities start bright and early downtown in Courthouse Square. Join us for a wrangler’s breakfast hosted by Santa Rosa Firefighters IAFF 1401 beginning at 8:00 am. Event sponsors, the Girl Scouts of Northern California and Tomorrow's Leaders Today will provide fun activities for children of all ages.
Local merchants will be exhibiting their Santa Rosa Spirit Day window displays as well as offering exclusive Cattle Drive sales and promotions. Among participating businesses are SPACE XXV, serving up a bagel sandwich breakfast buffet; La Vera Pizza, rolling out a BBQ Pork Pizza special with staff dressed in their finest western garb; Cupcake | Children & Maternity, with a “Mad about Plaid” sale on all things plaid; and Rendez Vous Bistro with bar specials.
The Cattle Drive enjoys local support from the City of Santa Rosa and Downtown Santa Rosa.
At 10:00 am, the herd gets started as the cowboys and our guest wranglers move ‘em out towards the Fairgrounds. The cattle should reach the Fairgrounds around 11:00 am. Catch the excitement along the route or wait for them to arrive at the Fair. Enjoy free transportation between downtown and the fairgrounds on Rosie the Trolley from 10:30am - 2:30pm.
The cattle drive route will take the herd east along 4th Street to E Street, then south on E Street to the parking lot on S. E Street and Bennett Valley Road. There will be no parking on 4th Street between Mendocino and E Street or on E Street between 4th Street and Bennett Valley Road during the event.

If that’s not enough thrill for you, you can be a guest wrangler! Ride along on horseback or as a VIP passenger in our stagecoach. Wranglerships are limited, so you better hurry if you want to take part in the action! See the flier below for additional details.
Dung Division competition!
- No limit to how many teams can enter!! Maximum 4 people to a team.
- Restrictions: Participants must be able to walk 2 miles. At least one team member needs to be age 14 or older.
- Performance auditions will be held at the PRCA Rodeo halftime, July 29th and 30th.
- Wear a costume, decorate the tools of your trade, create a clever team name…the more fun you have, the more fun for everyone!
- Judging based on creativity, style, and thoroughness!
- You must provide your own shovels and containers (buckets, wagons, wheelbarrows, etc.)
- Winners will be determined by a combination of audience applause and judges’ scores.
- Two teams will win (one each night) and awarded an official place in the 2011 Cattle Drive Dung Division! (Must be available to work the Cattle Drive event on August 7th, 10am start.)
- Members of the winning teams will also receive 1 free ticket to see Trace Adkins on August 11th.
