Meet the 2016 racing seminar hosts
Dennis Miller is the horse racing publicist for the Pleasanton Off-Track Betting Facility and the Alameda County Fair. He recently completed his fifth year of co-hosting the Daily Handicapping Seminar at the Alameda County Fair with track announcer/TVG personality Frank Mirahmadi. The rest of the year, Miller hosts handicapping seminars at the Pleasanton OTB and runs various promotional contests including the highly successful “Race to the Derby” fantasy handicapping contest this year. Before coming to the Fair and OTB, Miller was a sports writer that covered and spoke about horse racing for 16 years for the Alameda Newspaper Group, with the Oakland Tribune as the flagship paper in the chain. Since leaving the paper six years ago, Miller has also successfully launched ACES Golf Lifestyle Magazine in addition to his responsibilities in the horse racing world. Miller writes a year-round horse racing blog at www.pleasantonotb.wordpress.com. Miller takes pride that he hit his first $100 exacta in the 5th grade and has never looked back!!
MICHAEL B. PATRICKS
MICHAEL B. PATRICKS ESQ. - J.D. Empire College School of Law (2013) Mr. Patricks passed the February 2014 California bar exam and was admitted to the State Bar in June of 2014. He has owned interests in several race horses who were trained by fellow Santa Rosan Steve Specht. Mr. Patricks has worked at the Sonoma County Fair since 1997, where he began in television production. Mr. Patricks currently assists the law offices of Martin M. Woods in both Civil and Criminal areas of practice. He currently volunteers his time in Empire College's Self-Help (family law) clinic, producing a wide breadth of legal documents for clients in need. Mr. Patricks has also moonlighted for 14 years as a high school basketball official. Michael hopes to reenter the world of horse ownership while pursuing his career as a barrister. This will be his 18th year working at the Sonoma County Fair: 11th as the Morning Line Odds maker and 6th year Co-Hosting the Daily Handicapping Seminar sponsored by Airport Express.
