Greentivities - Recycle, Reduce, Reuse
Back by popular demand is
“Greentivities”, a fun, interactive, and exciting venue
for both kids and adults. Don’t miss this opportunity
to play, experiment, and interact with state-of the-art
exhibits and demonstrations. Come for the fun of it and
stay to play.
Greentivities will showcase exhibits not only from local organizations but also from the Maker Faire, a family friendly, two-day festival of invention and creativity held annually in May in San Mateo. Prepare to be delighted and intrigued by engaging hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. From acting locally to thinking globally, going green has never been more enjoyable.
Greentivities will host more than 3800 square feet of exhibits which include ‘The House of Pressure’, the ‘Energy Bike’, hands-on Paleotechnic bead and cord making, and worm composting, as well as other green and inventive surprises. In addition, there will be a speaker series with topics ranging from local farming lore to water conservation tips, all playfully educational. The fun happens each day of Fair in the Garden Building from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Outside the Garden Building there will be more
exciting events as well, such as the addition on Friday
afternoons of art cars, big vehicles, and homemade
bicycles incorporated into the regular 5 p.m. parade
lineup. Don’t miss the electric car fueling station and
inventive hand-propelled vehicles.
While the focus is on fun, “Greentivities” is also about providing the community with ways to approach and/or reinforce how they recycle, reduce, conserve, and live more lightly on the earth.
