![]() ![]() Be A Part of the Fun -- Volunteer at the Harvest Fair! The Harvest Fair is just around the corner (October 4 & 5) and we are hoping that you will join us as a Special Events volunteer. Special Events is responsible for all the fun stuff at the Harvest Fair. We want to have as many “hands on” activities as possible, but our major stumbling block has always been supervision. Don't miss the 4th Annual Search for the Giant Pumpkin, as growers of giant pumpkins compete for big cash prizes. The weigh-in begins at 1 on Sunday, Oct. 5 in the Village. COW MILKING
Each team of two milkers will alternate between two cows, milking for a total of 2.5 minutes. There is a $25 fee per team of two. Contestants must be over 18. Saturday, Oct. 4 1:30 p.m. HARVEST FAIR 10K & 3K RUN Sing up now for the Harvest Fair 10K and 3K Fun Run. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA sponsorship program. Run is Sunday, October 5. Each team (2+ bakers) will bake a cake in an authentic Easy-Bake Oven. All materials and equipment will be provided. You will not be using a mix, so come prepared to bake from scratch. Teams may include adults and/or children ages 5 and up. HARVEST FAIR SCAVENGER HUNT Pick up a Scavenger Hunt map at the Bookwood Information Booth. Use the clues to find the stamping stations. Get every stamp and you can win a prize! ETCH-A-SKETCH We provide the Etch-A-Sketch; you create the work of art. Even if you're not old enough to remember the Etch-A-Sketch, you'll love the challnge of creating a picture on a screen using two little knobs and absolutely no software. Contestants of all ages will be give 3 minutes to create a picture. Sunday, Oct. 5 2:30 p.m. PUMPKIN CARVING
You need at least 3 people (all ages welcome) on your Pumpkin Carving "committee". We provide everything you need, including the pumpkin. Don't worry if you don't think of yourself as an artist--kitchen table pumpkin carnving is the standard here! LIVING SCARECROWS The object is to make a like a scarecrow and stand perfectly still. You can plan ahead and come dressed as a scarecrow or find your costume in our box of scarecrow clothes. All Living Scarecrows must be in position, ready to be judged, by JUST CALL ME MARTHA CRAFT CONTEST We all know that Martha can create a spectacular craft project out of just about anything--and in this contest, you do just that. Each contestant must create something from our pile of craft supplies. All ages welcome! Sunday, Oct. 5 noon - 4 p.m. NAME THAT PASTA! Picture orzo, penne, linguine and rigatoni. Now, you match the pasta with the name and win! Sponsored by Traverso's Gourment Foods. Saturday, Oct. 4 2:30 p.m. LEGO BUILDING CONTEST We provide the LEGOs (300 pounds if you need them!) and you create the masterpiece. Sponsored by the Toyworks.
